What it is

Chemical Guys Tire Kicker stands out by providing a high-gloss finish that avoids the greasy feel often associated with old-school solvent dressings. This water-based formula is designed for versatility, working just as effectively on interior dashboard plastics as it does on exterior rubber tires. It penetrates the surface to help block harmful UV rays that lead to cracking and fading, ensuring your vehicle trim retains its showroom luster over time. The sprayable consistency makes application straightforward, allowing you to control the level of shine based on how much you buff off. While it delivers a significant wet look, the dry to the touch finish helps prevent the annoying sling that often sprays onto your paintwork while driving. It is an excellent choice for detailers who want one product to handle multiple materials like weatherstripping, engine bay covers, and side wall rubber.

Ravvy AI insight

Tire Kicker is highly rated due to its balance of aesthetics and safety. Unlike silicone-heavy products that can damage rubber over years, this water-based emulsion preserves the material while offering a top tier gloss. For the best results, always clean the tire with a degreaser first to allow the product to bond properly to the rubber.

Clean Before Applying

Always use a dedicated tire cleaner or degreaser to remove old dressings and road grime before applying Tire Kicker. A clean surface allows the formula to bond better, increasing longevity and preventing browning.

Engine Bay Detailing

This product is excellent for engine bays. After cleaning the engine, spray it onto the plastic covers and hoses while they are cool to give the bay a brand new appearance and protect hoses from heat-induced cracking.

Frequently asked questions

Will this product sling onto my car doors?

When applied correctly and allowed to dry or wiped of excess, Tire Kicker is formulated to be dry to the touch. This significantly reduces the chances of product slinging onto your paint compared to oil-based dressings.

Can I use this on my interior dashboard?

Yes, it is safe for interior vinyl and plastic. However, because it is an 'Extra Glossy' formula, it will produce a bright reflection which some drivers might find distracting on the dashboard under direct sunlight.

How long does the shine typically last?

In dry conditions, the shine can last for two to three weeks. Because it is water-based, it may wash away faster than solvent-based products during heavy rain or high-pressure car washes.

Is it safe for motorcycles?

It is safe for the plastic and vinyl trim on a motorcycle, but you should never apply tire shine to the tread or the sidewalls of motorcycle tires, as it can reduce traction and be extremely dangerous.
