What Choosr collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you take control of it.
Last updated 18 August 2026
1.Who we are
Choosr is a product discovery and comparison service. We aggregate publicly available product data, retailer listings and owner reviews, then publish our own editorial analysis and the Choosr Score. We are the data controller for personal data processed through this site.
Privacy questions: privacy@choosr.app. Postal requests can be sent to the address supplied on request.
2.Data we collect
Account data. When you create an account we store your email address, an authentication identifier, and any display name or avatar you choose. If you sign in with a third party provider such as Google, we receive your email address, name and profile image from that provider. We never receive your provider password.
Saved content. Wishlist items, saved products and preferences you set in your account.
AI assistant conversations. Messages you send to Scout, our shopping assistant, and its replies, stored against your account so you can revisit threads.
Usage data. Pages viewed, products viewed, referring URL, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, and timestamps. Product view counts feed the popularity and trending components of the Choosr Score in aggregate form.
Technical data. IP address, session identifiers, cookie identifiers and security logs used to prevent abuse.
Communications. Anything you send us by email or through a form, including DMCA and rights notices.
We do not knowingly collect payment card data. Purchases happen on the retailer's site, under the retailer's own privacy policy.
3.How we use data and our legal bases
- Providing the service (contract): creating and securing your account, saving wishlists, running the Scout assistant, remembering preferences.
- Improving the catalog and scores (legitimate interests): aggregated view and engagement data informs ranking, popularity and trending signals.
- Affiliate attribution (legitimate interests, or consent where required): recording that a click to a retailer originated from Choosr so commission can be credited.
- Analytics and performance (consent where required): understanding which pages work and diagnosing errors.
- Security and fraud prevention (legitimate interests and legal obligation): rate limiting, abuse detection, audit logs.
- Communications (contract or consent): transactional email such as password resets, and marketing email only where you have opted in.
- Legal compliance (legal obligation): responding to rights requests, copyright notices and lawful demands.
5.Affiliate links and aggregator disclosure
Choosr is an affiliate based aggregator. Outbound retailer links, including links to Amazon, may carry a tracking identifier, and we may earn a commission when you buy. This is disclosed on product pages and in our footer, in line with the FTC Endorsement Guides and comparable rules elsewhere.
Commission never influences the Choosr Score, ranking or editorial analysis. Brands cannot pay for placement or a score change.
Choosr participates in retailer affiliate programs, and some outbound links may earn us a commission at no extra cost to you. Prices and availability change often. Verify before buying. Prices and availability shown are captured at a point in time; always verify on the retailer's site before buying.
6.AI features and automated processing
Scout and our editorial summaries use third party large language models. Prompts, the product context we attach, and your messages are transmitted to those providers to generate a response. Do not put sensitive personal information into the chat.
We instruct providers not to train foundation models on our API traffic where that option is offered. AI output can be wrong or out of date and is not professional advice. We do not make legal or similarly significant decisions about you by automated means.
8.We do not sell your personal information
We do not sell personal information for money. Affiliate and analytics cookies may constitute "sharing" or "sale" under some US state privacy laws; where that applies you can opt out through your cookie settings or a Global Privacy Control signal. We do not knowingly process the personal information of anyone under 16.
9.International transfers
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the UK, EEA or Switzerland, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK Addendum or an adequacy decision, together with technical safeguards such as encryption in transit and at rest.
10.Retention
- Account, profile and wishlist data: kept while your account is active, then deleted within 30 days of deletion request or account closure.
- Chat threads: kept until you delete the thread or your account.
- Aggregated product view counts: retained indefinitely in non-identifying form.
- Security and access logs: typically 12 months.
- Records needed for legal, tax or dispute purposes: as long as the applicable limitation period requires.
11.Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, port or restrict processing of your data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, to withdraw consent, to opt out of sale, sharing or targeted advertising, and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
You can delete your account and its data from your account page, or email privacy@choosr.app. We respond within 30 days, or 45 days where US state law allows an extension. We may verify your identity before acting. EU and UK users may also complain to their local supervisory authority.
12.Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access to production data is restricted to authorised administrators, and database access is governed by row level security so users can only reach their own records. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your rights we will notify you and the relevant regulator as required by law.
13.Changes to this policy
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged in the product or by email to registered users.
