What it is

The JOYIN Wooden Magnet Painting Kit offers a straightforward and accessible entry point for children to explore their artistic side. This set includes twelve distinct nature themed wooden shapes along with a basic paint palette, brush, and glitter glue. It is designed to be a complete out of the box experience, making it an excellent choice for structured play dates or classroom activities where keeping multiple children occupied is the primary goal. While the materials are basic, the wooden cutouts are sturdy enough to handle heavy applications of paint. The inclusion of magnets allows kids to display their finished work on the refrigerator, providing a sense of accomplishment. This kit focuses more on the process of creation and motor skill development rather than high end archival quality, serving as an ideal disposable craft for busy households and parties.

Ravvy AI insight

At less than a dollar per craft, this kit is priced for bulk utility rather than artistic longevity. The water based paints are safe for toddlers but may require multiple coats for vibrant coverage on the porous wood surfaces. We recommend having extra brushes on hand if using this for a group, as the single included brush will create a bottleneck.

If using this for a party, supplement the kit with a pack of cheap multi sized brushes. This allows several children to paint simultaneously without waiting for the single included brush.

Ownership tips

tip

Boost Color Vibrancy

Since wood is porous, the first layer of paint may soak in. Apply a thin white base coat or wait for the first layer to dry before adding a second for brighter colors.

care

Seal the Finish

To prevent the paint from chipping or fading over time, spray the finished and dried magnets with a clear acrylic sealer. This adds a nice gloss and protects the artwork.

Frequently asked questions

Are the magnets already attached to the wood?

Yes, the magnets come pre attached to the back of each wooden shape. This makes it much easier for younger children as there is no need for messy gluing of the magnetic strips.

Is the paint washable from clothes?

The kit uses water based paints which are generally washable if addressed while wet. However, it is always recommended to use a craft apron to prevent staining on delicate fabrics.

What age group is this kit best for?

The manufacturer recommends ages 3 and up. The simple shapes and large painting surfaces are perfect for toddlers and elementary schoolers, though older kids might finish them very quickly.

How many colors are included in the palette?

The kit typically includes a standard six color paint strip. These primary and secondary colors can be mixed in the included palette to create a wider variety of shades.
