What it is

The Perilogics Universal Airplane Phone Holder is a pocket-sized solution for the common problem of uncomfortable neck angles during long flights. By using a heavy-duty spring clamp, this mount attaches to the folded or stowed tray table, eye-level seat pockets, or even luggage handles. It eliminates the need to balance your phone against a water bottle or hold it for hours, providing a much more ergonomic viewing experience for movies and video calls. Constructed from durable ABS plastic with dual 360-degree rotating joints, the mount allows for high levels of customization in positioning. It folds down into a compact rectangle that easily fits into a pocket or tech organizer. While it is primarily marketed for air travel, the clamp design is equally effective for desk use, kitchen counters, or anywhere with a flat edge up to 1.6 inches thick.

Ravvy AI insight

This mount is a category leader because it solves a specific ergonomic pain point at a low price. However, buyers should note that the spring tension is strong, which is great for security but can be difficult for users with limited hand strength to open initially. It performs best on hard, flat surfaces rather than padded airplane seats.

Ownership tips

tip

Optimal Placement

For the best viewing angle on a plane, clamp the mount to the top of the tray table while it is in the upright and locked position. This keeps the screen at eye level and saves your neck from strain.

Storage Advice

Always fold the unit completely flat before tossing it into a bag. This protects the rotating joints from lateral pressure which could snap the plastic hinges over time.

Frequently asked questions

Will this hold an iPhone Pro Max model?

Yes, it accommodates phones up to 3.82 inches wide. However, if you are using a thick protective case like an Otterbox, you may need to remove the case for the clamp to grip the phone securely.

Can I use this on a tray table that is down?

Absolutely. You can clamp it to the side or front edge of the tray table while you are eating or working, though clamping to the stowed tray usually provides a better viewing height.

Does it vibrate a lot during flight?

The mount is quite stable during normal flight conditions. During heavy turbulence, you may notice some movement, but the spring-loaded grip is designed to keep the phone from falling out.

What is the maximum thickness the base clamp can handle?

The base clamp opens to approximately 1.6 inches. This is sufficient for almost all airplane tray tables and most standard desk surfaces or shelving units.
