What it is

The Pyrex Deep series addresses the common frustration of standard baking dishes being too shallow for hearty lasagnas or tall roasts. By adding up to fifty percent more depth compared to traditional glass pans, this three piece set allows for generous layering without the risk of bubbling cheese or sauces spilling onto your oven floor. The tempered glass construction remains the reliable standard for heat distribution and food safety, as it does not leach chemicals or absorb lingering odors from pungent ingredients. Each dish comes with a color matched BPA free plastic lid, transforming these heavy duty bakers into refrigerator storage containers. While the glass is incredibly durable and resistant to thermal shock within reasonable temperature ranges, the real value lies in the nesting capability. Even with the added depth, these dishes stack efficiently to save precious cabinet space. This set includes the essential nine by thirteen inch pan along with two smaller sizes for side dishes or smaller households.

Ravvy AI insight

This set solves a specific pain point regarding oven cleanliness by providing extra headroom for bubbling liquids. When comparing to metal alternatives, these glass dishes offer better visibility for checking browning on the bottom and sides, though they require more careful handling during rapid temperature changes.

How to get the most out of it

Preventing Thermal Shock

Always allow your glass dish to reach room temperature before placing it in the dishwasher or under cold water. Sudden temperature shifts can cause tempered glass to shatter, even if it is high quality.

Ownership tips

care

Lid Longevity

Wash the plastic lids on the top rack of the dishwasher only. High heat from the bottom heating element can warp the plastic over time, resulting in a loose fit.

tip

Oven Placement

Because these dishes are deeper, ensure your oven racks are adjusted before preheating. You may need more vertical clearance than you are used to with standard bakeware.

Frequently asked questions

Can these dishes go directly from the freezer to the oven?

It is not recommended to move glass directly from extreme cold to extreme heat. Let the food thaw in the refrigerator or sit at room temperature for a while to prevent the glass from breaking due to thermal stress.

Are the lids leak-proof for soup or liquid transport?

The lids are designed for a snug fit to keep food fresh in the fridge, but they are not airtight or liquid-tight. Avoid tilting the dishes when they contain liquids to prevent leaks.

Is the glass lead-free and cadmium-free?

Yes, Pyrex glass is non-porous and free of lead and cadmium. It is a safe choice for food preparation as it does not react with acidic foods like tomato sauce.

What is the maximum temperature these dishes can handle?

These dishes are safe for use in preheated ovens. However, they should never be used under a broiler or on a stovetop, as the direct concentrated heat can damage the glass.
