What it is

The Reolink RLK16-800D8 is a comprehensive security solution designed for those who require high-resolution coverage without the recurring costs of cloud subscriptions. By utilizing Power over Ethernet technology, this system simplifies installation by running both power and data through a single cable. The eight included 4K dome cameras provide exceptional clarity, allowing for digital zooming that maintains enough detail to identify license plates or facial features at a distance. The heart of the system is a 16-channel NVR equipped with a 4TB hard drive, providing ample space for continuous recording. The built-in AI processing is a standout feature, significantly reducing false alarms by distinguishing between human movement, vehicles, and swaying trees or pets. This local processing ensures privacy and speed, as the detection logic happens on the hardware itself rather than in the cloud. With eight open channels remaining, the system offers significant room for future expansion as your security needs grow.

Ravvy AI insight

While the 4K resolution is impressive, users should note the 20fps frame rate, which is standard for high-res NVRs but slightly less fluid than 30fps systems. To maximize your investment, prioritize placing the dome cameras in areas where their wider 87-degree field of view can cover entry points, and consider upgrading to an 8TB drive if you plan to utilize all 16 channels for 24/7 recording.
