What it is

The SEDETA 31.5 inch Lift Top Coffee Table bridges the gap between traditional farmhouse aesthetics and modern functional needs. Its primary draw is the gas-strut lifting mechanism that raises the tabletop from a standard height to an ergonomic work or dining surface. Unlike cheaper spring-loaded models, the gas struts provide a controlled movement that reduces the risk of slamming, making it a safer choice for households with children or pets. The square silhouette is particularly effective for larger sectional sofas or compact living rooms where a rectangular table might feel too long. Storage is the other core strength of this piece. Beneath the lifting top lies a deep hidden compartment for tucking away remotes, blankets, or laptops. Surrounding the base are four open cubbies, each featuring adjustable and removable shelves that allow for custom organization of books and decorative bins. While constructed from engineered wood, the laminate finish is designed to resist water and scratches, ensuring the white farmhouse look remains crisp even with daily use in high-traffic areas.

Ravvy AI insight

The use of gas struts instead of springs at this price point is a significant value add, as it offers a more stable and quiet transition. Shoppers should measure their sofa seat height carefully, as the 25.4 inch extended height is ideal for standard 18 to 20 inch cushions but might feel high for low-profile modern seating. The 31.5 inch square footprint is a smart alternative to rectangular tables in square-shaped rooms to improve traffic flow.

How to get the most out of it

Adjusting the Lift Tension

Ensure all screws on the lifting brackets are tightened evenly to prevent the top from tilting. If the mechanism feels stiff initially, a small amount of silicone lubricant on the pivot points can smooth the motion.

Ownership tips

tip

Organizing the Cubbies

Use standard sized fabric bins in the four open compartments to hide smaller items. The adjustable shelves can be removed entirely if you wish to store taller items like oversized art books or tall vases.

care

Maintaining the Finish

Clean the surface with a damp microfiber cloth and mild soap. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive pads which can dull the waterproof laminate finish over time.
