What it is
The Step2 Neat and Tidy Cottage serves as a versatile headquarters for toddler imagination. Its open design allows for 360-degree visibility, which is a major safety plus for parents monitoring multiple children at once. The inclusion of a working doorbell and a play phone adds a layer of auditory feedback that keeps toddlers engaged longer than static playhouses. The molded-in kitchen features, like the sink and fireplace, encourage roleplay without requiring a massive footprint. Built with Step2 signature double-walled plastic, this playhouse handles the elements remarkably well. Unlike wooden alternatives that require staining and sanding to avoid splinters, this resin structure stays smooth and colorfast through heavy rain and sun exposure. The floor includes drain holes to prevent water pooling, making it equally suitable for a sunroom or a backyard corner. It is a low-maintenance investment that holds its resale value due to the sheer durability of the material.
Ravvy AI insight
While the manufacturer suggests ages up to 10, the real sweet spot for this cottage is 18 months to 4 years due to the interior height. To maximize the value, install it on a level surface like a patio or indoor play mat to ensure the Dutch door swings freely without catching on grass or uneven ground.

How to get the most out of it
Leveling the Foundation
Ensure you place the cottage on a flat surface like a deck or leveled pavers. If the ground is uneven, the Dutch doors may not align correctly or could pop open on their own.

Seasonal Cleaning
Use a simple solution of mild soap and water with a soft brush to remove algae or dirt buildup. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can scratch the plastic and make it harder to clean later.
