What it is

The Sunnyglade Heavy Duty Swing Seat set offers a significant upgrade for aging backyard playgrounds. Built with flexible EVA plastic, these U-shaped seats contour to the rider for better stability and comfort compared to rigid plastic options. The 26.5 inch width provides ample room for growing children, while the 250 pound weight capacity ensures the hardware can handle vigorous play or even occasional use by adults. Safety is a primary focus with the 66 inch zinc-plated chains. The bottom 30 inches of each chain are encased in a smooth thermoplastic coating, which effectively prevents small fingers from being pinched and keeps hair from getting caught in the links. The green finish is UV-resistant to prevent fading and cracking, making this a low-maintenance solution for families looking to refresh a jungle gym or DIY a new play area.

Ravvy AI insight

When comparing this to standard retail swings, the 250-pound rating is the standout feature that ensures longevity through teenage years. Buyers should verify their existing beam height, as the 66-inch chain is optimized for standard 7 to 8-foot tall play sets without needing extra extensions. The EVA material is superior to hard plastic for grip, though it can get hot in direct noon sun, so placement in partial shade is recommended.

How to get the most out of it

Leveling the Seat

Ensure the seat is perfectly level by counting the chain links on both sides during installation. A crooked seat can cause uneven wear on the plastic and may lead to the rider sliding off to one side.

Ownership tips

tip

Check Your Hangers

Since this kit includes the seats and chains but not the beam hardware, ensure your existing swing hangers are in good condition. Look for signs of rust or thinning metal at the friction points before attaching new chains.

care

Winter Maintenance

In climates with extreme freezing temperatures, consider unhooking the seats and storing them indoors for the winter. This prevents the EVA plastic from becoming brittle and extends the life of the green pigment.

Frequently asked questions

Does this set include the hooks to attach it to the wood beam?

No, this set includes two seats and four chains with pre-attached S-hooks. You will need to purchase heavy-duty swing hangers or carabiners separately to mount them to your wooden or metal support beam.

Is the 250lb weight limit for one seat or both combined?

The 250lb weight limit applies to each individual swing seat. This high capacity makes them safe for older children and most adults, providing much more durability than standard residential swing seats.

What is the purpose of the plastic coating on the chains?

The thermoplastic coating serves two main purposes. It protects small hands from getting pinched between metal links and it provides a more comfortable, temperature-stable grip for the rider.

Can I shorten the chains if my swing set is lower than 8 feet?

Yes, you can shorten the chains by clipping your carabiner into a higher link rather than the end link. Any excess chain can be removed with bolt cutters or simply secured out of the way to prevent swinging hazards.
