What it is

The TEKFUN LCD Writing Tablet serves as a modern alternative to paper and crayons, offering a 10-inch digital surface where children can doodle without the risk of stained furniture or wasted trees. Utilizing pressure-sensitive technology, it allows kids to draw varying line thicknesses based on how hard they press. The screen is designed for eye comfort, avoiding the harsh blue light found on standard tablets while still providing a colorful output that keeps preschoolers engaged. Portability is the standout feature here, as the device weighs just 150 grams and fits easily into a backpack or seatback pocket. The single-button erase function provides instant gratification for starting new projects, while the physical lock switch on the back ensures that a masterpiece isn't accidentally deleted. It is an ideal distraction for long car rides or flights where traditional art supplies are too cumbersome to manage.

Ravvy AI insight

While the 100,000-cycle battery life is impressive, the screen contrast is lower than backlit devices, so it performs best in well-lit environments. Buyers should note that while it is marketed as waterproof, this typically applies to minor splashes rather than full submersion, so keep it away from pools.

Ownership tips

tip

Use in bright light

Because this screen does not have a backlight, it relies on reflected ambient light. For the brightest colors, encourage your child to use the tablet near a window or under a lamp.

care

Cleaning the screen

Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to wipe away fingerprints or smudges. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive pads which can scratch the plastic drawing surface.

Frequently asked questions

Can you save the drawings to a computer?

No, this is a basic doodle pad without internal storage or connectivity. If your child creates something you want to keep, the best method is to take a photo of the screen with your phone.

What type of battery does it use?

It typically uses a CR2025 coin cell battery. These are inexpensive and widely available, providing enough power for thousands of erase cycles over several months.

Does it come with a pen?

Yes, it includes a stylus specifically designed for the board. However, the pressure-sensitive screen will also work with a fingernail or other soft-tipped objects if the pen is misplaced.

Is the screen bright enough for nighttime use?

No, the screen is not backlit to protect children's eyes. It requires external light to be visible, so it is not suitable for use in a dark bedroom or a car at night without the overhead light on.
