What it is

The TOPTRO X9 PRO distinguishes itself in a crowded market by abandoning the clunky, often laggy Android skins found on budget projectors in favor of the specialized VIDAA OS. This platform provides a snappy, TV-like interface that handles native Netflix and Prime Video without the need for external streaming sticks. The visual performance is anchored by a genuine 920 ISO ANSI lumens rating, which provides enough punch for dim daytime viewing and excellent vibrancy during night sessions, outperforming generic units that use inflated marketing brightness numbers. Audio is where this model truly surprises, packing dual 20W speakers that deliver a substantial soundstage rarely heard in portable projectors. The integration of AI-driven setup tools including auto-focus, keystone correction, and obstacle avoidance makes it remarkably easy to move from the bedroom to the backyard. With WiFi 6 for stable high-bandwidth streaming and official AirPlay 2 support for Apple users, it bridges the gap between a casual portable unit and a dedicated home theater hub.

Ravvy AI insight

While marketed with 4K decoding, remember this is a native 1080P unit; its value lies in the 920 ISO ANSI brightness which is far more consistent than the '3500 lumens' often cited by competitors. The inclusion of VIDAA OS is a strategic advantage for users who hate troubleshooting third-party apps, though it lacks the sheer app volume of a standard Google TV interface.

Download the VIDAA smartphone app to use your phone as a voice-controlled remote. This makes searching for titles across Netflix and Prime Video much faster than using the directional pad on the physical remote.

Ownership tips

tip

Outdoor Audio Setup

While the 40W speakers are powerful, you can use the Bluetooth 5.4 functionality to connect two external speakers simultaneously for a wider stereo field during large backyard gatherings.

care

Maintaining Image Clarity

Use the included lens cleaning kit every few weeks if using the projector outdoors. Dust on the external lens can interfere with the AI auto-focus sensors, leading to slightly soft images.

Frequently asked questions

Does this projector play Netflix in high definition?

Yes. Unlike many budget projectors that require a Fire Stick for Netflix, the TOPTRO X9 PRO uses the official VIDAA OS which includes a native, certified Netflix app for seamless HD streaming.

Is this a true 4K projector?

This projector features 4K decoding, meaning it can process 4K files, but the output resolution is native 1080P. The image is enhanced by HDR10 and high brightness, providing excellent clarity that rivals budget 4K units.

Can I use it with my iPhone?

Absolutely. It features official AirPlay 2 support, allowing you to mirror your iPhone screen or cast videos directly without needing third-party apps or cables.

How loud are the fans during operation?

The fan noise is relatively low and is easily masked by the powerful 40W internal speakers. In standard viewing modes, the cooling system stays quiet enough for bedroom use.
