What it is

The Twelve South AirFly SE solves the persistent annoyance of modern travel: wanting to use your premium noise-canceling earbuds with seatback entertainment screens that only offer a 3.5mm jack. This compact transmitter plugs into any standard headphone port and beams high-quality audio directly to your AirPods or Bluetooth headphones. It is specifically engineered to handle the unique interference of aircraft cabins and gym environments where multiple signals compete for space. Beyond just flights, this device excels at giving new life to legacy equipment like older exercise bikes or portable gaming consoles that lack native Bluetooth. With a battery life exceeding 20 hours, it comfortably lasts through the world's longest commercial flights. The inclusion of volume controls directly on the unit is a thoughtful touch, allowing you to manage levels without having to fumble for your phone or reach for the touchscreen on the seat in front of you.

Ravvy AI insight

While cheaper alternatives exist, the AirFly SE is worth the premium for its dedicated volume buttons and low-latency aptX support which prevents the 'lip-sync' delay common in budget transmitters. If you travel as a couple, consider the AirFly Duo or Pro instead, as this SE model only supports a single connection at a time.

Pairing Before You Board

Pair your headphones with the AirFly at home before you get on the plane. Aircraft cabins are crowded with Bluetooth signals that can interfere with the initial handshake between devices.
