What it is

The VOULOIR Digital Freezer Thermometer is a purpose built tool for homeowners who want to move beyond the vague dials found in most standard refrigerators. Featuring a large 2.56 inch LCD screen, this device displays current, maximum, and minimum temperatures simultaneously. This tracking capability is vital for identifying if your fridge has warmed up during the night or during a power outage, which could compromise food safety. The IPX3 waterproof rating ensures that condensation and humidity common in cooling environments won't short circuit the electronics. Simplicity is the primary focus here, as the device operates with just three intuitive buttons located on the rear. You can easily toggle between Celsius and Fahrenheit or reset the memory records with a single press. Mounting is equally flexible, offering a magnetic back for metal surfaces, a flip out stand for shelves, and a hook for hanging from wire racks. While the plastic casing is lightweight, the utility of getting two units in one package makes it easy to monitor both the refrigerator and freezer sections at once.

Ravvy AI insight

When setting these up, place them in the middle of the shelf rather than near the door to get the most stable and accurate reading. The Max/Min feature is the real value here because it reveals if your compressor is struggling or cycling irregularly over a 24 hour period. For the price, the inclusion of CR2032 batteries adds significant day one value compared to competitors.

Ownership tips

tip

Check for Hot Spots

Use the two units to compare the temperature at the top and bottom of your fridge. Most refrigerators have a 3 to 5 degree variance between shelves which affects food shelf life.

care

Condensation Maintenance

While these are IPX3 rated, try to avoid placing them directly under a cooling vent where ice might build up. Wipe the screen with a dry cloth if it becomes foggy to ensure the LCD remains clear.

Frequently asked questions

Does this thermometer work in deep freezers?

Yes, it is rated down to negative 4 degrees Fahrenheit. This covers the standard range for residential freezers, though it may not be suitable for industrial chest freezers that go much lower.

What type of battery does it use?

Each unit uses a single CR2032 lithium button cell battery. These are included in the package so you can begin monitoring your food immediately.

Can I use this as a regular room thermometer?

Absolutely. Because it measures up to 122 degrees Fahrenheit, it works well for monitoring bedrooms, greenhouses, or wine cellars in addition to kitchen appliances.

Is the display always on?

Yes, the LCD stays active as long as the battery is installed and the power button is on. The low power draw of the LCD ensures the battery lasts for several months of continuous use.
