What it is
The Amico 12-Pack Recessed Lighting kit offers a practical solution for homeowners looking to modernize outdated lighting without extensive renovation. These 6-inch retrofit units are designed with an enlarged 7.2-inch diameter, which is particularly useful for masking ceiling imperfections or oversized holes left by older fixtures. The inclusion of a universal E26 base means the installation process mirrors changing a standard light bulb, potentially saving hundreds in professional electrician fees. Functionally, the units provide exceptional flexibility through five selectable color temperatures ranging from warm 2700K to cool 6000K. This allows for total consistency across different rooms while accommodating varying preferences for task or ambient lighting. While the construction utilizes polyamide fiber rather than traditional metal, the energy efficiency is significant, outputting 1050 lumens while consuming only 12 watts, a massive reduction compared to standard halogen bulbs.
Ravvy AI insight
The 7.2-inch diameter is the standout feature here, as it acts as a built-in 'goof ring' to hide messy drywall cuts. When installing, set your color temperature on the back of the unit before snapping the springs into place, as changing it later requires pulling the fixture down. For best results, pair these with a standard Lutron or Leviton LED-rated slider dimmer rather than newer smart switches to avoid flickering.

How to get the most out of it
Clean Ceiling Surface
Since these fixtures have a wider 7.2-inch diameter, wipe down the area around the existing hole. A clean surface ensures the wide trim sits flush against the drywall without leaving dark shadows or gaps.
Ownership tips
tip
Test Color Temperatures First
Before clipping the lights into the ceiling, plug one into a socket and toggle the switch on the back. View the light at different times of day to ensure the 3000K or 4000K setting matches your room's paint and decor.

Dimmer Compatibility
Only use LED-compatible dimmers to prevent buzzing. Avoid using these with smart dimmers or automated home systems that vary voltage in ways these drivers are not designed to handle.
Frequently asked questions
Can these be used in damp areas like bathrooms?
While these are suitable for indoor use and can handle the humidity of a bathroom, they are not rated for direct water contact like a shower stall. They work well for general bathroom ceiling lighting.
Do I need a separate housing to install these?
These are retrofit units designed to fit into existing 5-inch or 6-inch recessed cans. They include an E26 adapter that screws into your current bulb socket, so no new wiring or housing is required.
What does the 5CCT feature mean?
5CCT stands for 5 Correlated Color Temperatures. It means each light has a physical switch that lets you choose between Warm White, Soft White, Neutral White, Daylight, or Cool White settings.
Why is the diameter larger than standard 6-inch lights?
The 7.2-inch diameter is intentional. It provides extra coverage to hide 'goofs' or rough edges in the drywall that often occur when original recessed cans were installed poorly or moved.
