What it is

The EASTFUN 5-Pack offers a practical approach to file management for those who still rely on physical media for distribution. These USB 2.0 drives provide a modest 8GB capacity per unit, which is ideal for storing documents, school presentations, or basic photo backups. The inclusion of five distinct colors Blue, Purple, Rose, Green, and Gold allows for easy visual organization without the need for labeling each individual drive. While the hardware follows the older USB 2.0 standard, it remains highly compatible across legacy systems and newer machines alike. The swivel design eliminates the common nuisance of losing a cap, protecting the connector when the drive is tossed into a bag or drawer. These are not performance beasts intended for moving massive 4K video files, but rather reliable utility tools for everyday data sharing and handoffs.

Ravvy AI insight

While the 8GB capacity seems low by modern standards, it is the sweet spot for creating system recovery disks or handing out digital marketing materials. Pay attention to the USB 2.0 interface, which tops out at about 18MB/s read speeds, making it unsuitable for high-speed workflows but perfect for text-heavy projects.

Ownership tips

tip

Use for Recovery Drives

These 8GB units are the perfect size for Windows or Linux recovery media. Dedicate one color specifically for your emergency boot drive so it is easy to find in a crisis.

care

Protect the Connector

Always ensure the metal swivel is closed over the USB head when not in use. This prevents dust and debris from entering the port, which can cause connection issues over time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use these to store 4K movies?

Technically yes, but it is not recommended. An 8GB drive will only hold about one highly compressed movie, and the USB 2.0 speeds mean it will take several minutes to transfer the file.

Do these work with USB 3.0 ports?

Yes, they are backward compatible. You can plug these into a USB 3.0 or 3.1 port, but they will still operate at the slower USB 2.0 speeds.

Are they compatible with Chromebooks?

Absolutely. These drives use standard USB-A connections and require no drivers, making them instantly recognizable by ChromeOS, Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Is the actual usable space exactly 8GB?

No, because of how computers calculate binary storage and the space required for the file system, the usable capacity is typically around 7.4GB to 7.6GB.
