What it is

The Etekcity Digital Kitchen Scale stands as a staple for home cooks who prioritize accuracy without sacrificing counter space. Its brushed 304 food grade stainless steel surface offers a modern aesthetic while remaining resilient against spills and heavy ingredients. The platform is large enough to hold most standard mixing bowls, yet the profile is slim enough to slide into a drawer when prep work is finished. With a clear backlit LCD, reading measurements in dim lighting or under large plates is straightforward. Functionality is centered on a simple two button interface that toggles between five different units of measurement, including liquid volumes for milk and water. The tare feature is responsive, allowing for quick zeroing to weigh multiple ingredients in a single container. While it is marketed as a budget friendly option, the build quality feels surprisingly sturdy, and the inclusion of a two year warranty provides a level of consumer protection rarely seen at this price point.

Ravvy AI insight

At its current price point, this scale offers the best value to performance ratio in the entry level market. While it lacks smart connectivity or professional grade sub gram precision, its 1g increments are ideal for standard baking and portion control. Buyers should note that while the stainless steel is durable, the internal sensors are sensitive to drops, so store it flat rather than on its side to maintain calibration.

Ownership tips

care

Cleaning the Surface

Use a damp cloth with mild soap to wipe the stainless steel platform. Never submerge the unit in water or place it in the dishwasher as this will destroy the internal electronics.

tip

Battery Longevity

The scale features an auto off function to save power. If you plan to store it for more than six months without use, remove the AAA batteries to prevent potential acid leaks.

Frequently asked questions

Does this scale measure in milliliters?

Yes, it features specific modes for water and milk volume in milliliters or fluid ounces. It uses pre programmed density values to provide a calculated volume based on weight.

Is the display easy to read with a large bowl on top?

The display is located on the front edge and is backlit for visibility. However, extremely large mixing bowls may overhang and obscure the screen, so consider using a taller narrow container if needed.

What kind of batteries does it take?

It runs on two AAA batteries which are included in the box. Unlike many scales that use expensive CR2032 button cells, these are inexpensive and easy to find.

How accurate is the 1g increment?

The scale is designed for kitchen use and is accurate to within 1 gram. It is not intended for laboratory work or weighing items less than 2 grams, where a milligram scale would be required.
