What it is

The hipidog Automatic Pet Feeder and Waterer set offers a reliable low-tech solution for pet owners who want to ensure their companions are fed without relying on batteries or complex apps. By utilizing a natural gravity-feed system, this combo provides a steady flow of kibble and water, making it an excellent fail-safe for power outages or outdoor use. The 3.8-liter capacity is generous enough to sustain a small pet for roughly one week, giving you peace of mind during short trips or long work days. What sets this model apart is the inclusion of detachable stainless steel bowls. While many budget gravity feeders use all-plastic designs that can harbor bacteria and lead to feline acne, these rust-proof inserts are easy to sanitize and dishwasher safe. The wide-mouth food chute is engineered to prevent clogging, and the water dispenser utilizes a spring-valve system to maintain water levels without overflowing or leaking onto your floors.

Ravvy AI insight

While this set is listed for small to medium pets, the gravity food chute performs best with standard round kibble; shaped or oversized kibble may occasionally bridge and require a quick shake. For optimal hygiene, prioritize using the dishwasher for the steel inserts while strictly hand-washing the plastic reservoirs to avoid warping.

How to get the most out of it

Preventing Slime

Clean the stainless steel bowls at least twice a week even if they aren't empty. Biofilm can still build up in the water basin over time.

Ownership tips

Temperature Warning

Always hand wash the plastic bottles with lukewarm water. High temperatures from a dishwasher or boiling water will cause the PET plastic to warp and lose its seal.

tip

Kibble Size Matters

Use standard small-to-medium sized kibble for the best results. Large or irregular shapes are more likely to get stuck in the gravity chute.

Frequently asked questions

How long will the food and water last?

For a single small cat or dog, the 3.8-liter capacity typically lasts about 7 days. For medium-sized pets, you can expect the supply to last roughly 3 days.

Are the bowls truly stainless steel?

Yes, this version includes removable stainless steel liners that sit inside the plastic base. This makes them much easier to clean and more durable than all-plastic alternatives.

Will the waterer leak if it is knocked over?

The water dispenser features a spiral and spring valve design meant to prevent leaks during normal use. However, if a large pet forcefully knocks the entire unit over, some spilling may occur.

Does this feeder help with weight control?

No, this is a free-feeding system. Because it uses gravity, food is always available, so it is not recommended for pets that struggle with overeating.
