What it is

The Honeywell Home RTH9585WF bridges the gap between traditional reliability and modern smart home convenience. Its standout feature is the large, high resolution color touchscreen that allows users to customize the background to match their wall paint or interior decor. Unlike minimalist smart thermostats that strip away physical interaction, this model provides a comprehensive on unit interface for those who prefer to adjust settings at the wall rather than hunting for a smartphone. The interface is intuitive, displaying the indoor humidity, outdoor temperature, and current status clearly at a glance. Beyond its visual customization, the thermostat is a powerhouse of utility compatibility. It supports a wide range of heating and cooling systems, including heat pumps and steam units, provided you have a dedicated C-Wire for power. The integration with major voice assistants like Alexa and Google Home is seamless, allowing for hands free temperature adjustments. While it lacks the advanced motion sensors found in high end competitors, its Smart Response Technology learns your home's heating and cooling cycles to ensure the target temperature is reached exactly when your schedule dictates.

Ravvy AI insight

This model is a strategic buy for users prioritizing local control over cloud dependence, as the large screen offers full functionality without the app. While newer AI thermostats automate everything, the RTH9585WF favors scheduled programming and manual overrides, making it ideal for those who want predictable climate control. Ensure you check for utility rebates, as its Energy Star certification often makes it eligible for instant discounts through local energy providers.
