What it is

The LEGO Ideas Motorized Lighthouse is a sophisticated engineering marvel that bridges the gap between traditional brick building and functional kinetic art. Standing at an impressive 21 inches tall, the model features a custom designed Fresnel lens that rotates to cast a genuine beam of light, powered by the included motor and battery box. The build experience is deeply engaging, focusing on the intricate mechanical internal column that drives the rotation without compromising the aesthetic integrity of the rugged cliffside and lighthouse tower. Beyond its mechanical prowess, the set excels in storytelling through its detailed keeper's cottage and hidden pirate cave. The interior of the cottage is easily accessible, revealing a cozy glowing fireplace and period-appropriate furnishings that bring the lonely coastal life to scale. While the price point is premium for the piece count, the inclusion of Power Functions components and the unique optical lens makes this a standout centerpiece for any adult collection.

Ravvy AI insight

When comparing this to other Ideas sets, the value lies in the specialized Fresnel lens and the integrated Power Functions. If you plan to display this as a night light, consider upgrading to a third-party USB power adapter to avoid frequent battery replacements for the motor and LEDs.
