What it is

The LEGO Technic 2022 Ford GT is a sophisticated 1,466-piece project that bridges the gap between traditional toy building and mechanical modeling. At 1:12 scale, it captures the aggressive aerodynamic profile of the iconic American supercar, complete with its signature flying buttresses and dark blue finish with white racing stripes. The assembly process is intentionally complex, designed to satisfy adult hobbyists who appreciate seeing how a differential gear and independent suspension come together in a tactile way. Beyond its striking exterior, the set shines in its functional realism. Builders will appreciate the working V6 engine with moving pistons, front-axle steering, and a manually adjustable spoiler wing. Unlike many shelf-bound models, this Ford GT encourages interaction through its opening hood and doors, revealing an interior that maintains the high standard set by the bodywork. It stands as a testament to the Technic line ability to replicate high-performance machinery without the thousand-dollar price tag of larger 1:8 scale counterparts.

Ravvy AI insight

This set offers the highest value-to-complexity ratio in the current Technic lineup because it includes premium features like independent suspension and moving engine parts at a sub-100 dollar price point. While the 1:12 scale is smaller than the flagship sets, it is more space-efficient for home office displays. We recommend this as a gateway for adults transitioning from standard System bricks to the more rigid and functional Technic ecosystem.

Ownership tips

tip

Testing the Differential

Before completing the chassis, spin the rear wheels to ensure the differential and V6 pistons move freely. It is much harder to fix gear alignment once the body panels are attached.

care

Dusting the Interior

Because this model has an open cockpit design, use a soft makeup brush or compressed air once a month to remove dust from the gear shifters and dashboard.
