What it is

The Oral B Glide Mint Dental Floss Picks utilize a micro textured fiber designed to navigate the narrowest gaps between teeth without fraying or snapping. Unlike traditional string floss that can be cumbersome to wrap around fingers, these manual sticks provide a rigid handle and a flexible pick end to dislodge stubborn food particles. The integration of Scope Outlast flavor provides a noticeable cooling sensation that lingers longer than standard waxed alternatives. Recent updates to the manufacturing process have eliminated PTFE and PFAS chemicals, shifting to a nylon based micro textured fiber that maintains high tensile strength. This makes them an excellent choice for users who previously avoided floss picks due to concerns about chemical coatings or those who found older plastic designs too prone to stretching. The tension in the floss head is calibrated to remain taut even under pressure, ensuring effective plaque removal just below the gumline.

Ravvy AI insight

While these picks offer superior glide in tight contacts, the micro textured fiber performs best when used with a gentle sawing motion rather than forceful snapping. Users with permanent retainers should exercise caution as the high tension fiber can catch on metal bonds. For the best value, look for multi pack bundles as the single 75 count pack carries a higher price per unit than bulk alternatives.

How to get the most out of it

The Sawing Technique

Avoid snapping the floss into your gums by using a gentle back and forth sawing motion to pass through tight contact points. Once through, curve the floss against the side of the tooth in a C shape for maximum plaque removal.

Frequently asked questions

Are these floss picks BPA free?

Yes, Oral-B has designed these picks to be free of BPA, PTFE, and PFAS chemicals. The focus is on using safe, micro textured fibers that provide a high level of durability without relying on controversial coatings.

How do these compare to standard string floss?

These picks offer significantly more convenience, especially for reaching back molars. While string floss allows for better C-shape wrapping, these picks provide consistent tension and a built in toothpick that many find easier to use daily.

Will the floss shred if I have rough fillings?

The micro textured fiber is specifically engineered to be shred resistant. While extremely jagged dental work can damage any floss, these are among the most durable options for those with tight or rough dental surfaces.

Is the Scope flavor very strong?
