What it is

The Sonos Era 100 succeeds the iconic Sonos One by introducing a dual-tweeter architecture that finally brings stereo separation to a single, compact chassis. It features a significantly larger midwoofer that provides a surprising amount of low-end punch for its size, making it a viable primary speaker for offices or bedrooms. The inclusion of both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity marks a significant shift for Sonos, offering users more flexibility in how they stream their media without being locked solely into the app ecosystem. Beyond just raw sound, the Era 100 integrates seamlessly into the broader Sonos ecosystem, functioning perfectly as a standalone unit or as rear surrounds for a home theater setup. The addition of a USB-C line-in port allows for physical connections to turntables or other analog sources, though it requires a proprietary adapter. With a modern touch-slider for volume and a faster processor, the user experience is fluid, responsive, and tailored for high-resolution audio streaming.

Ravvy AI insight

While the Era 100 supports Bluetooth, its real value lies in the Trueplay tuning which uses the internal microphones to calibrate sound to your specific room geometry. For the best experience, use it over Wi-Fi to maintain high-bitrate audio quality that Bluetooth often compresses. If you plan to connect a turntable, factor in the additional cost of the Sonos Line-In Adapter as it is not included in the box.
