What it is

The Sunlite Sports Water Weights offer a high-buoyancy solution for low-impact aquatic fitness. Unlike traditional weights that rely on gravity, these dumbbells utilize the natural resistance of water to provide a challenging upper body workout. The high-density EVA foam construction is designed to withstand chlorine and sun exposure, ensuring the blocks do not crumble or absorb water during extended sessions. The inclusion of handle straps is a significant upgrade over basic foam models, allowing for a more relaxed grip and preventing the weights from floating away during vigorous movements. These weights are particularly effective for rehabilitation and toning without the joint stress associated with land-based lifting. At only 4.5 ounces, they are incredibly portable, yet they provide substantial resistance when submerged. The ergonomic PC tube core provides a rigid structure that feels stable in the hand, while the soft foam covering ensures comfort during repetitive motions. Whether you are performing lateral raises or chest presses, the constant tension helps engage stabilizing muscles that are often missed in traditional gym settings.

Ravvy AI insight

While many water weights use simple foam cylinders, the integrated handle straps on this Sunlite model solve the common issue of 'grip fatigue' during long aqua-aerobics sessions. For the best results, focus on slow, controlled downward movements to maximize the eccentric resistance of the foam against the water's buoyancy.

How to get the most out of it

Maximize Resistance

To increase the intensity of your workout, move the weights through the water at a faster pace. The resistance of these foam blocks increases exponentially with the speed of your movement.

Ownership tips

care

Rinse After Every Use

Always rinse your dumbbells with fresh water after using them in a chlorinated or salt-water pool. This prevents chemical buildup that can degrade the foam texture over time.

tip

Proper Storage

Store the weights in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight when not in use. Constant UV exposure can eventually cause the EVA foam to become brittle or lose its vibrant color.

Frequently asked questions

Do these weights provide actual weight or just resistance?

These are not heavy like traditional dumbbells. They weigh only a few ounces but provide resistance by fighting against the buoyancy of the water as you push them downward.

Are the handle straps adjustable?

The straps are designed to be snug to keep the weights attached to your hands during fast movements. While they have some flexibility, they are primarily fixed to ensure a secure and stable grip.

Will these weights absorb water and get heavy?

No, they are made from high-density closed-cell EVA foam. This material is designed to repel water rather than absorb it, ensuring they stay buoyant and dry quickly after your workout.

Can children use these for pool play?

While they are safe and non-toxic, they are designed as fitness equipment. Because they are very buoyant, they can pop up to the surface quickly, so children should be supervised to avoid accidental impact.
