What it is

The Atomic Bear Paracord Bracelet offers a versatile solution for outdoor enthusiasts who want essential survival tools within reach. Each bracelet is constructed from approximately 12 feet of military grade paracord, which can be unraveled to assist in building shelters, securing gear, or making emergency repairs. The integrated buckle system houses a ferrocerium rod fire starter, a high-decibel emergency whistle, and a compact compass to help with basic orientation during a trek. Unlike many fixed-size survival bracelets that are either too loose or too tight, this model features an adjustable strap that accommodates wrist sizes from 8 to 10.5 inches. This makes it a practical choice for a wide range of users, from scouts to adult backpackers. The two-pack format provides great value, allowing users to keep one as a backup or share with a hiking partner for added safety on the trail.

Ravvy AI insight

When purchasing these bracelets, consider them as secondary emergency backups rather than primary survival tools. The compass is functional but sensitive to nearby metal, so ensure it is held away from watches or knives for accurate readings. The true value lies in the adjustable sizing and the high-quality ferro rod which provides reliable sparking for fire starting in damp conditions.

How to get the most out of it

Starting a Fire

Scrape the black protective coating off the ferro rod before your first use. Use a sharp edge or the included striker to create sparks against a bundle of dry tinder like lint or dry grass.

Ownership tips

tip

Compass Accuracy

To get the most accurate reading from the built-in compass, keep the bracelet level and away from metal objects. Electronics or steel knives held too close can cause the needle to deviate.

care

Cleaning the Bracelet

If the paracord becomes muddy or sweaty, hand wash it with mild soap and warm water. Air dry the bracelet completely before storage to prevent any rust on the striker blade.

Frequently asked questions

Will this bracelet fit a child's wrist?

Yes, the adjustable design allows it to tighten down to 8 inches. While it may be slightly bulky on very small children, it generally fits most youth and scouts well.

Can the paracord be reused after it is unraveled?

The cord itself is reusable for any task, but re-weaving it back into the original cobra braid pattern is difficult and time-consuming. It is best used for actual emergency situations.

Is the whistle loud enough for emergencies?

The integrated whistle is designed to produce a high-pitched sound that carries further than a human voice. It is an effective tool for signaling if you are lost or injured.

Is the fire starter waterproof?

The ferrocerium rod will produce sparks even when wet. Simply wipe off excess water and strike it firmly to generate sparks, making it reliable in rain or snow.
