What it is

The Bissell Little Green Oxy formula is a high-performance cleaning solution designed specifically for handheld portable deep cleaners. It utilizes an oxygen-based chemistry that penetrates deep into carpet fibers to break down organic pigments from wine, coffee, and pet accidents. Unlike standard soaps that can leave a sticky residue, this formula includes StainProtect technology to seal fibers and prevent future spills from turning into permanent marks. Beyond just surface cleaning, this detergent targets the source of unpleasant smells rather than just masking them. It is highly concentrated, meaning a single 60-ounce bottle provides a significant number of cleaning cycles for upholstery, car interiors, and area rugs. The Water Fresh scent provides a crisp finish that signals cleanliness without being overly perfumed or chemical-heavy.

Ravvy AI insight

While marketed for Bissell machines, this formula is compatible with most portable extractors due to its low-sudsing profile. For maximum efficiency on old stains, pre-treat the area for five minutes before running the machine to allow the oxy-action to fully loosen dried particles.

How to get the most out of it

Optimizing the Mix Ratio

Always follow the lines on your machine's tank rather than eyeballing the pour. Using too much concentrate can lead to excess foam, while too little will reduce the effectiveness of the oxygen boosters.

Ownership tips

tip

Dwell Time is Key

For set-in stains like red wine or coffee, spray the solution on the spot and wait three to five minutes before extracting. This gives the oxy-action time to break the chemical bond between the stain and the carpet.

Storage Conditions

Keep the bottle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. High heat can degrade the oxygen-based active ingredients over time, reducing the cleaning potency of the liquid.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this in a full-sized upright carpet cleaner?

This specific formula is optimized for portable units. While it will clean in a large machine, the concentration and sudsing levels are tailored for the smaller motors and tanks found in handheld spot cleaners.

Is this safe for use around dogs and cats?

When used according to the label instructions, it is safe for households with pets. Ensure the carpet is fully dry before allowing your animals to lounge or play on the treated area.

Will this work on old, dried-in stains?

Yes, the oxy-based formula is particularly effective at lifting older organic stains. You may need to repeat the cleaning process twice for very dark or heavy spills that have been there for months.

Does it leave a crunchy feeling on the carpet?

No, this formula is designed to be residue-free. As long as you follow the proper dilution ratios, the fibers should feel soft and clean once the area has completely air-dried.
