What it is

The Maxpower Planet Grooming Rake is a specialized tool designed specifically for pets with double coats or dense fur that standard brushes cannot penetrate. It features a heavy duty dual sided head with stainless steel teeth that are sharpened to cut through mats but rounded at the tips to protect the skin. The nine tooth side acts as a primary dematter for tangled clumps, while the seventeen tooth side thins out the undercoat to significantly reduce seasonal shedding around the home. Constructed with a lightweight rubberized handle, this tool provides excellent grip during longer grooming sessions. Unlike electric clippers or traditional combs, this rake works by hooking and removing dead hair from the base without tugging painfully on the topcoat. It is particularly effective for breeds like Huskies, Golden Retrievers, and long haired cats that suffer from trapped dander and dirt in their thick underlayers.

Ravvy AI insight

This tool is a mechanical deshedder, not a surface brush, so it requires a light touch to avoid 'brush burn' on the skin. While the price point is entry level, the stainless steel teeth are surprisingly durable and resist rust even when used on damp fur. For best results, use this tool outdoors or in a garage as the volume of hair removed in one session can be overwhelming for indoor spaces.

Start with the Wide Teeth

Always begin your session with the 9-tooth side to identify and gently break up large mats. Pull the rake in the direction of hair growth using short, smooth strokes rather than long sweeping motions.

Ownership tips

tip

Groom Outdoors

This rake is exceptionally efficient at pulling out loose undercoat hair. Because it releases a large volume of fur quickly, grooming your pet outside will save you significant cleanup time inside the house.

care

Cleaning the Blades

After each use, remove the collected fur by hand and wipe the stainless steel teeth with a dry cloth. If the blades get wet, ensure they are dried completely before storage to maintain the sharp inner edges.
