What it is

The Shark PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro attempts to solve the biggest frustration with robot cleaners: the constant need for human intervention. By integrating a base that not only empties dry debris but also refills the water tank and dries the mopping pad, Shark has created a truly hands-off system. The NeverStuck technology is a standout feature, allowing the robot to lift itself over high thresholds that typically trap competitor models, while the EdgeDetect air blasts ensure dust doesn't hide in corners.

Ravvy AI insight

This model offers a middle ground between budget robots and ultra-premium $1,000 plus machines by including a heated drying cycle for the mop. Buyers should note that while it automates water refilling, you will still need to manually empty the dirty water tank to prevent odors, despite the 'NeverTouch' branding. The 2025 manufacturing cycle suggests improved sensor algorithms for better obstacle avoidance than previous Shark iterations.

How to get the most out of it

During the first run, open all doors and pick up loose cables or small toys. This allows the PowerDetect sensors to create a permanent, accurate floor plan for targeted room cleaning.

Ownership tips

tip

Placement is Key

Ensure the base is placed on a hard surface rather than thick carpet. This helps the robot dock more reliably when it is carrying a full load of water or debris.

care

Manage the Dirty Water

Even though the clean water lasts 30 days, empty the dirty water recovery tank every 2 to 3 days. This prevents bacterial growth and musty smells from developing inside the base.

Frequently asked questions

Does it actually dry the mopping pad?

Yes, the NeverTouch Pro base includes a heated air cycle that dries the pad after the cleaning session is complete. This is a critical feature for preventing mold and unpleasant odors in the fabric.

How does it handle transitioning from hard floors to rugs?

The robot uses sensors to detect carpet and will automatically lift the mopping pad. This ensures your rugs stay dry while the robot continues to vacuum the rest of the room.

Can I use my own floor cleaner in the tank?

Shark recommends using their specific multi-surface cleaner solution to prevent clogging the internal pumps. Using third-party soaps or vinegar could potentially damage the auto-refill mechanism.

Is the dust bin in the base bagless?

Yes, the base features a large bagless canister. This is a significant cost saver compared to other brands that require you to buy proprietary disposable dust bags every month.
