What it is

The Shark Navigator Lift-Away Professional NV356E stands as a landmark in the upright vacuum category, offering a hybrid design that bridges the gap between a traditional heavy duty upright and a portable canister. Its standout feature is the Lift-Away function, allowing the main canister to detach from the floor nozzle. This design choice makes cleaning stairs and high-reach areas significantly less taxing than with standard one-piece uprights. Performance is anchored by a robust 1200-watt motor that provides consistent suction on both medium-pile carpets and hard surfaces. While the floor head lacks the specialized soft rollers found on more expensive models, its brush roll shut-off feature ensures it won't scatter debris on tile or wood. The inclusion of an Anti-Allergen Complete Seal is a critical benefit for sensitive households, ensuring that fine particles stay trapped inside the HEPA filter rather than leaking through the machine casing.

Ravvy AI insight

The NV356E offers one of the best price-to-performance ratios for allergy sufferers due to its fully sealed air system, a feature often reserved for vacuums twice its price. While it lacks modern bells and whistles like LED headlights or a self-cleaning brush roll, its mechanical simplicity translates to better long-term durability and easier self-maintenance. Buyers should prioritize this model if they value pure suction power and filtration over smart tech features.

Ownership tips

care

Maintain Your Filters

Rinse both the foam and felt filters every three months using only water. Ensure they are completely air-dried for at least 24 hours before re-inserting them to prevent motor damage and odors.

tip

Prevent Tipping

When using the wand and hose for high-reach cleaning, hold the pod or keep it detached in Lift-Away mode. The vacuum can be unstable if the hose is extended while the pod is docked.

Yes, it features a brush roll shut-off switch. This allows you to use suction only on hard floors, preventing the stiff bristles from scratching your surfaces or scattering light debris.
