What it is

The Shark PowerDetect Corded Stick Vacuum bridges the gap between bulky uprights and limited-run cordless sticks. By utilizing a corded power source, it provides consistent, high-performance suction that never fades mid-task, making it a reliable choice for deep cleaning entire floors. The DuoClean Detect system is the standout feature here, as it smart-senses both floor types and movement direction to optimize brushroll speed automatically, ensuring a seamless transition from plush rugs to hardwood.

Ravvy AI insight

For the best value, consider this model over the cordless version if you primarily clean high-pile carpets, as the constant power draw allows for deeper agitation without battery drain. The Direction Detect technology is particularly useful for users who find themselves pulling the vacuum back and forth rapidly, as it maintains efficiency on the backstroke. Be mindful that while it stands upright, the top-heavy motor unit requires a level surface to remain stable.

Using the Precision Duster

Switch to handheld mode and attach the Precision Duster for delicate surfaces like keyboards or collectibles. The soft bristles gently lift dust while the suction draws it away without scratching surfaces.

Ownership tips

care

Filter Maintenance

Rinse the pre-motor foam and felt filters every month with water only. Allow them to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinstalling to maintain peak suction and prevent motor strain.

tip

Optimizing Odor Control

Replace the Odor Neutralizer Technology cartridge every six months to keep your home smelling fresh. If the scent becomes too faint or the vacuum begins to smell like pet dander, it is time for a swap.

Frequently asked questions

Does this vacuum work well on thick carpets?

Yes, the PowerDetect sensors recognize carpeted surfaces and increase brushroll speed to agitate deep-seated dirt. Because it is corded, it does not lose power when faced with the resistance of thick fibers.

Can the brushroll be turned off for delicate rugs?

The DuoClean system is designed to be always active to engage floors, but the sensors adjust the speed. For extremely delicate antique rugs, use the handheld mode with a non-motorized attachment.

Is the HEPA filter washable?

The HEPA filter should be rinsed once a year with water only. Like the other filters, it must be completely dry before you put it back into the vacuum to prevent mold and ensure the seal remains effective.

How does the self-cleaning brushroll work?

A specialized bristle guard and comb-like structure continuously remove hair from the brushroll as it spins. This sends the hair directly into the dust cup rather than allowing it to wrap around the roller.
