What it is

The Dell S3425DW represents a significant step up for home office users who want a display that can handle both heavy spreadsheets and high speed gaming. By upgrading to a 120Hz refresh rate and incorporating FreeSync Premium, Dell has bridged the gap between a standard business panel and a gaming monitor. The 34 inch curved VA panel provides deep blacks and a high contrast ratio of 3000:1, which makes it particularly effective for watching movies or working in dimly lit environments. Functionality is at the forefront with a single cable USB-C solution that delivers up to 65W of power to your laptop while handling data and video. The build quality feels premium with a stylish Ash White finish that departs from the standard corporate black. While the VA panel offers excellent contrast, users should be aware of the inherent viewing angle limitations compared to IPS alternatives, though the curve helps mitigate this for a single user.

Ravvy AI insight

The jump from 60Hz or 75Hz to 120Hz is the most noticeable upgrade for daily scrolling and UI fluidness. At this price point, the inclusion of 95 percent DCI-P3 coverage and 65W charging makes it a superior value compared to older Thunderbolt 3 monitors which often cost hundreds more.

Ownership tips

tip

Optimizing for Dark Rooms

Since this uses a VA panel, it excels in dark rooms. Adjust the brightness to around 30 percent to take full advantage of the high contrast ratio without causing eye strain.

care

Cleaning the Matte Screen

Use a dry microfiber cloth for dust. For smudges, slightly dampen the cloth with distilled water but never spray liquids directly onto the screen as they can seep into the bezel.
