What it is

The Shark Detect Pro Lift-Away ADV marks a significant shift in upright vacuum technology by integrating four distinct sensors to automate the cleaning process. Unlike traditional vacuums that rely on manual power adjustments, this model actively scans for hidden dirt and recognizes when it is positioned near walls or corners. The Edge Detect feature is particularly impressive, automatically ramping up suction when the nozzle is within two inches of a baseboard to pull in debris that usually requires a separate crevice tool. The DuoClean dual-brushroll system continues to be a standout, handling both fine dust on hard floors and deep-seated grit in carpets without needing a head swap. Beyond its smart features, the LA802 maintains the classic Lift-Away functionality that Shark users have come to expect. You can detach the canister to clean stairs or reach high ceilings without hauling the full 15 pound unit. It also incorporates an Odor Neutralizer cartridge to keep the exhaust air smelling fresh, which is a welcome addition for pet owners. While the 0.8 quart bin is smaller than some industrial-sized uprights, the increased efficiency from the Direction Detect technology, which ensures cleaning on both forward and backward strokes, helps complete cleaning tasks faster.

Ravvy AI insight

The real value here is the sensor array which compensates for common user errors like moving too fast or missing corners. While the 15 pound weight is standard for uprights, the Lift-Away mode makes it feel more agile than its competitors. Monitor the Odor Neutralizer cartridge; replacing it every six months is essential to maintain the premium air filtration experience.
